Though spring technically starts March 20, most Chicagoans don’t expect it to feel like spring until late April or early May. Winters are long and cold, but we greet the piercing wind and freezing temperatures with faux fur and open arms. Investing in travel is the best risk you’ll ever take because it’s an investment in yourself. I’ve been across the globe, from South Africa to Ireland, and a bunch of pin drops in between, but no venture compares to the three days I spent in Edinburgh, Scotland. It was my first solo trip and almost nothing went according to plan. But somehow I managed to see everything on my list and even made a few unexpected sides trips, complete with surprising new friendships and a plethora of unnecessary facts about the long-held Scottish/English feud.
