Though spring technically starts March 20, most Chicagoans don’t expect it to feel like spring until late April or early May. Winters are long and cold, but we greet the piercing wind and freezing temperatures with faux fur and open arms. Currently we’re in that awkward stretch of 45-60 degree days that demand both jackets and short sleeves at various times. So, I put together a Coco Chanel inspired ensemble with layer upon layer of fabulousness that is perfect for those warmer afternoons and equally appropriate for cooler evenings.
The coat is Express, but so old it might as well be vintage. The top is Forever 21 and the sweater and knee-length patterned skirt are both H&M. The glasses were a major find—I purchased them from Knee Deep Vintage in Pilsen (they reminded me of Iris Apfel). I picked up the black pumps at a T.J. Maxx in Georgia. Truthfully, it’s not where you buy the clothes that’s important—it’s how you wear them. I’ll leave you with some choice words from the legend herself. Stay fabulous!
